(Belgrade, 27 April, 2012) Electric Power Industry of Serbia has announced public invitation for the procurement of systems for remote reading and consumption management today. Estimated value of procurement is EUR 60 million. Funds are secured from the loans of domestic banks.
Procurement refers to metering points of large consumers, metering points of public lightning and control metering points at transformer stations. In that manner remote about 30 percent of total consumption shall be remotely read, i.e. for all consumers except for households. At the same time, prerequisites for the application of Energy Law are created in the part which refers to market opening.
We would like to emphasize that technical requests related to this procurement, with participation of representatives of faculties and institutes and other experts, have been adopted two years ago and publicly announced on EPS website.
Participation of domestic and foreign electric equipment manufacturers and contractors is expected. In the previous period, domestic manufacturers achieved production in accordance with required characteristics and demonstrated that they can equally compete with foreign manufacturers. Scope of work also indicates the possibility of new staff employment with electrical equipment manufacturers.
This is the part of joint project that includes the procurement of meters by international loans (EUR 40 million is secured by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and EUR 40 million by European Investment Bank). These funds are allocated for the installation of meters with household consumers.
