
(14 March, 2012, Belgrade) Elektroprivreda Srbije and company Hitachi have signed Cooperation Protocol today that entails joint activities on existing and future capacities of EPS. Dragomir Markovic, General Manager, signed the Protocol on the behalf of EPS and Dr. Matthias Jochem, Senior Vice President and Christian Kissling, Sales Manager Eastern Europe, signed the Protocol on behalf of Hitachi.
Due to significant experience that Hitachi has with lignite that is used in EPS thermal power plants, companies will work together on improving the performance of parameters for boiler facilities in thermal units of existing TPP, as well as on reducing emissions of nitrogen and sulfur oxides. EPS and Hitachi will also cooperate in implementing the projects for construction of new planned capacities, determined by the documents of EPS and the Republic of Serbia, and that are related to scope of works from the Japanese company. Hitachi is the world leader for supercritical and ultra supercritical lignite-fired thermal units and one of two companies that possess adequate reference in this field. One of those projects is TENT B3 and other projects from thermal energy sector as well.
This cooperation also entails providing potential larger presence of Hitachi in Serbia by investing in industry, as well as exchange of information on conditions and manner for implementation of current and perspective projects in electric energy sector in Serbia and the region. Two companies shall also exchange information on new technologies in the field of thermal power plants and equipment, boilers and mills.
Cooperation Protocol entails that EPS and Hitachi shall form joint work groups, organize study visits and meetings to analyse the manner of cooperation.The two companies have been successfully cooperating since 2006 when two prototypes of mills were installed on unit A3 in TENT A3. Reconstruction of mills on units A3 and A4 has been completed successfully and for this year it is planned to perform ,during overhaul period of unit A5, reconstruction of all 6 mills with installation of 18 burners with low nitrogen oxides emission.The scope of business operations of Hitachi is engineering, supply, installation and commissioning as original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of power plant equipment, in particular but not limited to steam generators, firing systems and air quality control systems for coal fired power plants; as well as modernization and maintenance services to said power plant equipment.
