Development of PSHPP “Bistrica“ Project
(Belgrade, 27 March,2012) “”Elektroprivreda Srbije“ and Consortium, which consists of SNC-LAVALIN INTERNATIONAL INC from Canada and CHINA NUCLEAR POWER ENGINEERING CO., LTD., from the People’s Republic of China, signed the Memorandum of understanding for PSHPP „Bistrica“ Project development today.
Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dragomir Marković, General Manager of EPS, Jean-François Bâcle, Vice President of the Hydro Power Plants and Power System Division of Canada's SNC-Lavalin and Zhang Qibo, Deputy CEO and CFO of China Nuclear Power Engineering. This document entails cooperation on preparing the Proposal for developing detailed Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Assessment Study meeting the requirements and standards of International Financing Institutions for the purposes of financing of 680 MW Project PSHPP “Bistrica“. The Memorandum envisaged the development of Financing Plan which will propose viable and competitive financing options and subsequently develop and facilitate financing for the Project with financial institutions from Canada, China and other countries. EPS shall provide all assistance in arrangements for the site visit by the Consortium and provide sufficient information in order for the Consortium to prepare and assemble the proposal for the Feasibility Study Project of PSHPP “Bistrica“.
Many companies from all over the world have shown interest in this project and some are already developing their studies. This Memorandum shall not limit EPS from working with other parties and potential investors, as well as from publishing a tender for the selection of Contractor and investor.
Canadian company SNC-LAVALIN INTERNATIONAL INC is the renowned world leader in engineering and hydro power projects development and has successfully developed numerous large hydro power projects in Canada, as well as in the world. CHINA NUCLEAR POWER ENGINEERING CO., LTD is Contractor playing a lead role in the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up of nuclear power plants in China and intends to undertake international contracts in the engineering and construction supervision of hydropower projects.
