According to the set of Laws on Environmental Protection that became effect in late December 2004, PE EPS shall harmonize the operations of its facilities with the provisions of the Law until 2015.
SAFETY MEASURES
Production and processing of coal
- Development and introduction of new technologies of selective mining of immediate roof;
- Possibility of the use of materials of immediate roof and underlying seam as a non-metallic minerals;
- Reclamation of overburden dumps;
- Safety measures of regime and quality of groundwater and surface water and soil around the mine, the environment from dust and noise and coal processing protection.
Thermal power plants and combined and heat power plants- Reconstruction of the electrostatic precipitator in accordance with legal regulations (GVE=50 mg/m3 of solid particles) on the units that are being rehabilitated;
- Application of primary measures to reduce concentration of nitrogen oxides in flue gases in accordance with legal regulations (GVE=200mg/m3 of nitrogen oxides) on the units that are being rehabilitated;
- The introduction of flue gas desulphurization facilities in TPP in accordance with legal regulations (GVE = 400 mg/m3 of sulfur oxides);
- Improvement of existing and introduction of new technologies of transport and disposal of ash and slag (ash to water ratio 1:1);
- Reclamation of ash dumps in accordance with the special program;
- Reduction of waste water quantites;
- Discharged water quality control and monitoring of their impact on recipients;
- Development of water curtains of wells around dumps to protect groundwater and soil around it;
- The use of ash and slag in the cement industry, concrete industry, road construction and the like.
- Hydro power plants
- Monitoring, evaluation and analysis of regime and water quality (accumulations, water flows, groundwater), as well as sediment regimes and quality;
- Erosion, flow, sediment, ice and flood protection;
- Landscaping of catchment area;
- Riparian area protection;
- Water protection, especially reservoirs for which the use of water for other purposes is planned;
- Organization and environmental management system project;
- Preparation of water pollutants cadastre and monitoring system for reservoirs and riparian area;
- Implementation of information system for protection of water and riparian area
