Elektroprivreda Srbije has for months been intensively taking all necessary measures to prepare for the winter season to generate enough electricity both for the industrial customers and households alike in the coming winter. Overhauls of generation capacities are nearing completion, projects to improve coal production are ongoing, and additional quantities of coal are being procured. Preparations for the winter season in EPS are close to the finish line, while these days very complex activities are underway in the mining and thermal sectors.
At the Kolubara open cast mine Tamnava - Zapadno Polje yesterday, the lifting and installation of the Spreader 4 counterweight boom was completed, which is one of the most complex technological operations in mining. This work was carried out with the help of two Gosa Montaza cranes with a capacity of 250 tons, and several more demanding jobs will follow in the coming period, to allow Spreader 4 to be reintroduced into production by late this year.
In the Nikola Tesla B thermal power plant, equipment delivery for the mill damaged in December last year has begun, followed by the assembly of other equipment to make the mill ready for operation in December. Lower part of the casing and the separator were delivered, while all parts were previously dismantled and mill foundation prepared to commence mechanical assembly. All the necessary geodetic measurements were carried out by TENT employees, and during the Unit B2 overhaul, air duct with flap dampers and the recirculation gas duct of the mill were also overhauled.
