Current
energy crisis showed the strength of mining and thermal sectors within Electric
Power Industry of Serbia and the following period will to be additional
challenge for this part of EPS production; these were main topics at the
meeting between Mr. Milorad Grčić, EPS Acting Director and the engineers from
Kostolac Mine Drmno and Mine Basin Kolubara. Mr. Dejan Jevtić, EPS Executive
Director for Technical Affairs of Coal Production, Mr. Srđan Alimpijević, the
member of EPS Supervisory Board, the representatives of the union organizations
of EPS, Kolubara and Kostolac also attended the meeting.
-
Mining and thermal sectors represent the backbone of EPS and without this
dominant share in the production portfolio, Serbia would not be energy stable
and independent today. All power industries from our region and European Union
are facing serious problems. Despite the lack of energy sources, price
skyrocketing, we have succeeded to preserve energy stability by devoted work,
good planning and primarily with hard working and expert employees – said Mr.
Grčić. - We will continue to work hard in the future in order to remain the
most stable link in Serbian power system.
As
emphasized, the preservation of thermal sector is supported by both unions and
local self-government. This has also been confirmed today by Mr. Saša Pavlović,
the Mayor of the City of Požarevac, who attended the meeting.
