Cooperation as a Road to Transition

Meeting of the Western Balkans Power Industries

Management representatives of the power companies of Serbia, Montenegro, Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia discussed cooperation and the possibilities of joint action to secure funds for investments necessary for the green transition.
- Electric Power Industry of Serbia, as the largest power company in the region, is ready to cooperate with everyone and to act together in order to reach the right solutions for access to funds for the implementation of projects and just deadlines for the transition - says Miroslav Tomašević, Acting Director of PE EPS at the workshop on the introduction of regional power companies into the emission trading system (ETS) for carbon dioxide and the use of dedicated funds to finance the construction of replacement capacities.
Milutin Đukanović, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EPCG, says that Montenegro can set an example for the entire region because it has introduced a national emission trading system and has an excellent way of cooperating with the Eco Fund, from which EPCG can basically credit its large projects.
Ivan Mrvaljević, Head of the Sector for Development of EPCG, Anes Kazagić, Head of the Sector for Strategic Development of PE Elektroprivreda BiH, Jovica Vlatković, Executive Director for Investments of ERS and Blagoj Gajdardžiski, Director for Development and Investments of Power Plants of North Macedonia also participated in the workshop at Electric Power Industry of Serbia.
The participants also agreed to coordinate a letter for the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) of Southeast Europe, which deals with the issues of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
