After successful completion of the rehabilitation,
power unit B1 in Thermal power plant Nikola Tesla B was
put into trial operation this morning at 6.53.This
unit has a capacity of 670 megawatts now, which is 20 megawatts more than
before the modernization, and its lifetime was additionally extended and efficiency
increased. The value of this investment is EUR 90
million. The largest share out of EUR 70 million has the overhaul of the boiler plant,
and as much as 70 percent of that work was done by Serbian metal and boiler
companies. It was also the most complex part of this rehabilitation of B1, one
of the two strongest thermal units in EPS.
- As promised during the visit of Aleksandar
Vučić, the President of Serbia, the rehabilitation of the unit B1 was completed
on time and thus the energy security of the state was additionally ensured -
said Milorad Grčić, Acting Director of "Electric Power Industry of
Serbia". - In this giant project, 4,000 tons of new steel, 3,000 tons of
construction material were installed, and more than 55,000 welds were done,
without a mistake. Thanks to the young engineers who were the backbone of this
modernization and thus became a stable pillar of knowledge and expertise for future
projects in EPS.
In addition to increasing power, lifetime and energy efficiency, this rehabilitation will
also improve environmental conditions. The installation of a nitrogen oxide
reduction system will reduce nitrogen oxide emissions below 200 milligrams per
cubic meter. Environmental projects are being worked on
intensively in both TENT A and TENT B.
The construction of a desulphurization plant in TENT A is
progressing, and a project to build such a plant has begun in TENT B. The goal is for the largest
electricity factory in the Balkans, where more than half of electricity is
produced, to implement all environmental projects and for all EPS thermal power
plants to be in full compliance with the Industrial Emissions Directive by
2027.
