Annual overhauls on four units in thermal power plants in Obrenovac have been completed and at the same time the works on our greatest environmental project, the construction of a flue gas desulphurization system in TENT B are progressing – said Dušan Živković, General Manager of Elektroprivreda Srbije during the discussions with the management of the Thermal Power Plant Nikola Tesla Branch.
He pointed out that the overhaul season is proceeding according to plan both in coal production and in thermal and hydro sectors, so that the entire EPS system is fully ready for the next winter season, taking into account the increasing consumption requirements during the summer.
- We have more than two million tons of coal in the coal stocks of thermal power plants, which provides additional security. It is crucial that we continue with the current trend of keeping the coal stocks at a high level and that all resources are maximally engaged in order to use the power of thermal units as efficiently as possible, bearing in mind the quality of coal - said Živković.
During the meeting, a particular note was placed on ensuring the security of coal supply from the Kolubara Mining Basin, as investment repairs are ongoing in the mining sector, as well as on the necessity of continuous and safe production of electricity from coal from the coal stocks.
- All production results and progress of the overhaul so far are the merit of the employees in our large system and they are aware of their duty and obligation to the citizens of Serbia on a daily basis. For EPS employees, the priority and, above all, the most important task is to ensure energy security and stability of supply for citizens and the economy – said Živković.
