Assembly of the Joint Stock Company Elektroprivreda Srbije adopted Business Report for the first six months 2025 and realized profit amounts to 27.4 billion dinars, while the cash flows are stable.
Dubravka Đedović Handanović, Minister of Mining and Energy and representative of the founder in the Assembly of EPS JSC, noted that the trend of continuous production and financial stability of the company continued, and especially emphasized the importance of the results achieved in the mining sector. – Coal production is 8 percent higher than planned, but what is more important and what shows the positive trend is the fact that in the first six months of this year, coal production increased by 7 percent compared to the same period last year. We must continue this trend of growth, and that is why maximum efforts must be invested in the completion of the project of preparing machinery for the new Kolubara open cast mine “Radljevo” in order to start the production of overburden next year, a prerequisite for the exploitation of new quantities of coal – said Đedović Handanović.
She stated that the majority of overhaul work had been completed in the first six months in order to prepare the power plants for high summer consumption and ensure readiness for the winter season, as well as that, through careful management of the electricity portfolio, coal reserves even at the landfills were preserved and remain at a high level of approximately 1.68 million tons, while the costs of procuring external coal were 1.35 billion dinars below the plan, but also significantly lower than in the past three years.
- The second dry year in a row affected the electricity generation compared to the previous two years. Despite inflows on the Drina and Danube rivers being as much as 30 percent lower than the multi-year average, every drop of water was utilized thanks to the high operational readiness of the generating units. At the same time, the revitalization of the second unit in “Bajina Bašta” PSHPP continued, which will ensure decades of reliability and efficiency of our only pumped storage power plant, our gold reserve, after 43 years of operation of the power plant – said the Minister.
She reminded that the first solar power plant “Petka” in Kostolac was put into trial operation in the first quarter of this year, and we expect the blades of the first EPS wind farm to spin for the first time soon as part of the testing. – It is necessary to improve the management of investment activities, especially bearing in mind that work on the most important project in the energy sector, the project of construction of the pumped storage power plant “Bistrica”, is underway. At the same time, it is important to continue working on reducing operating costs and improving customer relations – said Đedović Handanović, adding that it is necessary to accelerate the work on the transformation process so that the financial indicators of changes are visible as soon as possible. – Within the process of transformation of the company, key performance indicators (KPIs) were introduced for executive and middle management for the first time and EPS is one of the few state-owned companies to have already implemented this. The achievement of goals, not only of the management, but of all employees, will be regularly monitored in order to increase the responsibility and efficiency of all employees in our largest company – concluded Đedović Handanović.
EPS JSC Assembly also adopted the decision on investing in the capital of Elektrosever Company which operates in Kosovo and Metohija. In this way, by recapitalizing from its own funds, EPS ensures electricity supply to our citizens in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo and Metohija. At the same time, Elektrosever is working on improving the service on a daily basis and more than 45 percent of consumers have received new smart meters so far.
