Coal mining using discontinuous machinery has begun at new open cast mine of Elektroprivreda Srbije, Radljevo. The exploitation was undertaken with the aim of forming drainage cuts and preparing the site for the installation of two new continuous systems, which are currently being assembled.
Approximately one million and 700.000 tons of coal for excavation were prepared through mining works conducted in the previous period. In this initial phase of exploitation, around 500.000 tons were delineated subject to the project. The machinery of Kolubara MB will be engaged in the excavation, and the coal will be excavated using hydraulic bucket-type excavators and transported by trucks to Tamnava landfill. The planned daily capacity is around 2.500 tons of coal.
Along with discontinuous exploitation, works on the assembly of two large overburden BTO systems are also being carried out at the erection yards. These systems will be included in the work and engaged in the detection of the carbon layer over the next year. When they are put into the production process, it is expected that the annual production of the overburden at Radljevo OCM will reach up to 19 million cubic meters.
