Energy
stability as an imperative for the business of every electric power company in
the region, along with the concurrent challenges imposed by the green
transition, decarbonization process and increasing the share of renewable
energy sources, were the main topics of the meeting between Dušan Živković,
General Manager of Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) and Sanel Buljubašić, General
Manager of Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine (EPB&H).
- The cooperation of electric power companies
is crucial for a sustainable future of the region's energy sector, especially
given the geopolitical and market challenges, as well as the requirements for
carbon neutrality in the near future. Our priorities are energy security and
profitability, but clear mechanisms for financing the transition are more than
necessary - said Dušan Živković, General Manager of EPS.
The
leaders of EPS and EPB&H pointed out that it is necessary to collaborate in
areas such as regulating the introduction of the CO2 fee mechanism, greater
share of RES, ways of balancing and introducing new technologies.
- We
will continue our joint activities towards the Energy Community regarding the
CBAM mechanism, because the results of our initiatives will affect the future
operations of energy companies in the Western Balkans region - said Sanel
Buljubašić, General Manager of EPB&H.
At
the meeting, which was also attended by members of the management of both
electric power companies, it was also discussed about actual investment
projects, key topics related to coal production and electricity generation,
market conditions, as well as challenges in the field of human resources and
planned investments in RES and environmental protection.
