The EPS JSC Assembly adopted the Report of business in the first three months of this year

For the third year in a row, Elektroprivreda Srbije proceed with the trend of positive business and in the first three months it made a profit of RSD 10.8 billion, which is more than the planned. The EPS JSC Assembly has adopted today the Report on business in the first three months of this year, and it was especially emphasized that such a result was achieved despite the fact that sales prices for the economy were about 20 percent lower compared to the same period last year.

Dubravka Đedović Handanović, Minister of Mining and Energy and a representative of the Founder in the EPS JSC Assembly, said that it was crucial that energy security was provided throughout the winter, because generation and supply of electricity were stable, although due to poor hydrology, generation from the hydro sector was 30 percent lower than in the first quarter of 2024.

- It is extremely important that the trend of production growth in the mining sector has continued, because coal production is higher than last year by eight percent. When compared to 2024, energy production in thermal power plants is also higher by three percent, while coal reserves in coal stocks are higher by eight percent. The level of total investments this year is also stable, as almost 95 percent of the plan has been implemented, but it is necessary to continue and accelerate the implementation of long-awaited investments in mining systems in order to open new mines and provide sufficient quantities of coal.

The overhaul season has begun as well as the second phase of the rehabilitation of the Pumped-Storage Hydro Power Plant Bajina Bašta, which ensures energy security for the coming decades. The first quarter was marked by the continuation of construction of the first EPS Wind Farm in Kostolac and the Solar Power Plant Petka, all 20 wind turbines and all solar panels were installed. With the completion of these projects and their commissioning this year, Serbia will get 76 new green megawatts - said the Minister of Mining and Energy.

She pointed out that it is necessary to continue the process of transformation of the company, among other things, with a focus on improving operational efficiency, because only in this way may long-term sustainability be achieved.
