Members of the Supervisory Board of EPS JSC visited the WF ”Kostolac“ and SPP ”Petka“

The construction of the first wind farm of the "Elektroprivreda Srbije" in Kostolac is in its final stages and the first commissioning under power is expected soon, as the members of the Supervisory Board of EPS JSC have witnessed.

- The teams of "Elektromreža Srbije" have successfully completed testing of the connection and distribution facility at the WF "Kostolac", which is a necessary prerequisite for connecting to the grid. Next is the testing and trial operation of each turbine, as well as the entire power of 66-megawatt wind farm - said during the tour Predrag Đorđević, Project Manager.

Twenty wind turbines in Kostolac will produce 187 million kWh per year, enough to supply green electricity to around 30,000 households. The project is being financed by a €110 million loan from the German development bank KfW, with an additional €30 million from the European Union's Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), as well as funds from EPS.

Members of the EPS SB also visited the 9.75 megawatt "Petka" solar power plant, which has been in trial operation since July 14th.

- In this year, EPS will be stronger by another 76 megawatts from renewable sources in Kostolac, but what is more important is that we have used old mining dumps and created new energy from them. Projects like this are concrete steps towards decarbonization and sustainable energy development, which are our goals for the coming decades. We will continue with similar projects here in Kostolac, but also at dumping and dump sites in other parts of EPS – said Dušan Živković, General Manager of EPS.
