Electricity from the future windfarms Alibunar 1 and Alibunar 2, with a total capacity of 168 MW, will be taken over by Elektroprivreda Srbije, and today, contracts on market premium and purchase of electricity and assumption of balance responsibility have been signed by Dušan Živković, General Manager of EPS, and Lazar Lazendić, representative of Windvision Windfarm A and Windvision Windfarm B companies.
- EPS is committed to investing in construction of power plants that use renewable energy sources, and in this way we are strengthening our generation portfolio and market position while actively supporting all RES investors. EPS will take over all generated electricity which thus remains in Serbia, and the purchase and balancing prices will be set based on market principles, which provides incentives for investors and enables additional profit for EPS. This energy will also provide significant additional security for the operation of our power system and the supply to both citizens and businesses – said Dušan Živković, EPS General Manager.
He highlighted that both auction rounds secured 850 MW of new wind and solar power and, now, with the investors who participated in the two rounds of auction and other independent producers in Serbia, EPS already has additional 2.6 GW of installed RES capacity.
- In 2028, such power will be increased by 1 GW from self-balancing power plants that we are developing with strategic partner, and we expect RES generation to achieve then 50 percent of total electricity generation – said Živković.
- Alibunar 1 and Alibunar 2 windfarm projects are of great importance for our company and that is our first project in Serbia. We recognize the country’s potential in renewable energy, specially in wind energy, and know that Serbia is worth of investing. We hope that there will be more projects like this in the future and we expect successful cooperation with local partners to enhance the energy security of the country – said Fugi Zhou, founder and owner of Windvision Windfarm A and Windvision Windfarm B companies.
