Through joint efforts of the Ministry of Mining and
Energy and Elektroprivreda Srbije, Serbia has done much more in the
field of auctions for the allocation of market premiums for renewable energy sources
than is known to the public. EPS is experiencing a green transition, we are
signing corporate PPA contracts, we are expecting a new auction, and we are
inviting all investors who did not participate in the auctions to join the
auctions - said David Žarković, Executive Director for Energy Portfolio at EPS
JSC, on the panel Contracts on the Purchase of Electricity from RES -
Corporate Contracts as a New Reality at the 5th Energy Summit in Trebinje
He emphasized that the auctions for the allocation of
market premiums were successful because of the offered 400 megawatts from wind
power plants, 400 megawatts were contracted, while 30 megawatts were contracted
from 50 megawatts from solar. Žarković explained that the success of the
auctions is even more significant because it was organized at a time of high
prices, and EPS offered long-term PPA contracts, thus showing that the
company's clear vision is oriented towards RES and the green transition.
The panel also discussed the new methodology for
calculating the price for the industry.
- EPS has been offering market prices to commercial
customers since 2013, but the last two years have been specific due to price
increase. Electricity prices went up to 250 euros, and EPS sold for 66 and 100
euros per megawatt-hour. Then the prices dropped, but from May 1 we are going
back to the market model of price formation - said Žarković.
