Installation of a new mobile conveyor, worth EUR 10.6 million, has been completed at the Kostolac Open Cast Mine Drmno and is expected to be included in coal production from April.
- For the Kostolac Open Cast Mine Drmno, the year 2025 was historic in terms of coal production. More than 10 million tons were produced, which is a record for all the people who work here. That is why it is important that we continue with modernization that will enable even better results. Continuous modernization of equipment is key to long-term energy stability, and this project is another proof of the strategic approach to the development of the power system - said Dušan Živković, General Manager of Elektroprivreda Srbije, after visiting the installation site West.
Owing to the hardworking and dedicated miners of Kolubara and Kostolac, the mining sector of Elektroprivreda Srbije produced seven percent more coal last year than in 2024.
- Each new machine at the open cast mine contributes to greater and more efficient production. It is also a guarantee of the stability of our mining sector – emphasized Živković. The completion of the mobile conveyor installation was also visited by Ivan Janković, Assistant Minister of Mining and Energy for Geology and Mining. He stated that EPS continues to invest in the mining sector, with investments reaching RSD 18.8 billion in 2025.
- It is very important that the planned investments have been fully implemented and that the largest installation of mining equipment for as many as four systems at the MB Kolubara is also progressing very well. The Ministry of Mining and Energy will continue to support investment projects that ensure energy security and stability – said Janković.
