After successfully completing tests in all modes, the second revitalized aggregate in the pump-storage hydroelectric power plant “Bajina Bašta" began a one-month trial run. This was one of the most important projects of “Elektroprivreda Srbije", worth approx. EUR 35 million.
After 43 years, our only pump-storage HPP, which is also an important reserve during periods of increased electricity consumption or during droughts, has been fully renovated. The completion of the revitalization ensures additional security of the electricity system in the coming decades.
Over the past two years, extensive work has been carried out on the modernization of both aggregates, electrical equipment and control systems, as well as a major overhaul of the supply and discharge tunnel, which is about eight kilometres long. The first revitalized aggregate has already demonstrated the success of the work done in practice, and the same is expected from the second aggregate.
The Japanese company “Toshiba" was the leader of the revitalization project, in which experts from “Goša Montaža", “Elektromontaža", “Elektroremont", Institute “Mihajlo Pupin" and Institute “Nikola Tesla", as well as employees in HPP “Bajina Bašta".
