Incentives to Promote Rational Power Consumption

Government of the Republic of Serbia has made a conclusion recommending to Electric Power Industry of Serbia to allow 15 to 30 percent discounts to households for reduced electricity consumption on a monthly basis in the period from 1st October to 31st March 2023.

Mr. Radovan Stanić, Supply Executive Director at JP EPS, as a guest in the News of the Radio-Television of Serbia, explained that households that reduce electricity consumption by five to 20 percent compared to the same month of the previous year will be granted a 15 percent discount. Electricity savings of 20 to 30 percent will be rewarded with 20 percent reduction, while the discount of 30 percent will be calculated for savings exceeding 30 percent.

- Average household consumption during winter period, from October 2021 to March 2022, amounted 401 KWh, and consumption reduced by 10 percent would enable the calculation of reduction of 21 percent, and/or RSD 980. Households that reduce consumption by 30 percent will receive reduction of the bill by 48 percent, and/or RSD 2,200 – said Mr. Stanić.

The customers using electricity for heating have much higher consumption than the average, and they could save from RSD 7,000 to 12,000 on a monthly basis.

Discounts will be applied to the bill for the current month, containing energy spent, cost of the supplier and demand charge.

- The advice for the citizens is to save electricity during the winter season because saving does pay off - the saving itself leads to bill reduction and with additional discounts, significant amount of money could be saved – said Mr. Stanić.

Advice for electricity saving is available on the EPS's website www.eps.rs/cir/Pages/enef.aspx as well as on the electricity bill.
