Innovations,
technological development and new solutions for sustainable energy were the
topics of the panel on the use of artificial intelligence tools in energy and
energy storage at the expert conference "Energy, Projects, Security"
on Zlatibor.
The panel titled "Open
Doors for Artificial Intelligence in the Electric Power Industry"
discussed the possibilities of applying advanced digital solutions in system
management, the use of artificial intelligence, the optimization of production
and consumption, as well as increasing the efficiency and reliability of the
system.
"Electric Power
Industry of Serbia" has been actively implementing and developing pilot
projects using artificial intelligence for several years, and a study in the
application of AI is currently underway, which will highlight the potential for
improving the business of the largest energy company in Serbia," said
Katarina Andrejević, Executive Director for IT and Digitalization at EPS. -
Pilot AI projects have already been conducted regarding the model for predicting electricity
consumption, preventive maintenance of the system, all the way to the
"Drina AI" project, which assists in better production planning based
on the forecast of water inflow at the "Drina-Lim HPP". AI is not something to be afraid of and we
need to boldly commit to EPS using all the potentials of this technology, but
education and data security remain key.
The importance of
completing the revitalization of our only PSHPP "Bajina Bašta" was
emphasized by David Žarković, Assistant General Manager for Energy Portfolio
Management, at the panel "New Energy Reality – Electricity Storage".
- Our strategic project
for the coming period is the construction of a PSHPP "Bistrica,"
which will enable a greater participation of new RES, which is one of the goals
of decarbonization of the energy sector. We have done a lot so far to provide
the foundations for the success of the energy transition. Investments in
environmental protection in our thermal power plants, such as desulphurization
plants, show the determination to make our base energy environmentally friendly
with the imperative of ensuring energy security – said Žarković.
