Heavy mining machinery, two excavators - "BWE 4" and " BWE 2", "Belt Wagon 2", as well as six drive stations, one of which is an interlayer shifting device, crossed the Kolubara riverbed from Field "G" to new operating positions within 48 hours under the supervision of experts from MB "Kolubara". It is one of the most extensive actions in the last few years, requiring precision and a large number of people, and it enables the continuation of stable coal production in the "Kolubara" Mining Basin.
Although the moving of excavators across the river is nothing new in the decades-long operation of the mines, this undertaking stands out for its scale and speed of execution. Preparations for transport and crossing the river were thorough and multi-layered. On the Second ECS system, the works lasted a full seven days, whereas the coal system was prepared in three days of intensive work.
- The departure of these large machines still does not mean that Field "G" is ceasing operations, but there will be key changes in the production process, with the aim of making maximum use of every layer of the deposit - said Ivan Jovanović, mine manager.
The machinery that has successfully crossed the riverbed already has precisely planned routes and tasks. "BWE 2" is heading towards the eastern border between the "West Field" and the old "East Field". At the same time, "BWE 4" is moving towards the Skobalj location, where it will officially start production.
