Mr. Dušan Živković, Acting Director of Elektroprivreda Srbije, Ms. Dubravka Đedović Handanović, Minister of Mining and Energy, H.E. Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, the Ambassador of Russia in Serbia, and representatives of the Siloviye Mashiny Company, attended the official completion of rehabilitation of Djerdap 1 HPP.
- With the successfully executed rehabilitation, the Djerdap 1 HPP got greater capacity, less scope of servicing and reliability for several decades. Total capacity of its six units has been increased to 1,140 MW, and by increasing the rated active capacity of each unit from 171 to 190 MW, EPS got one new power plant, with 100 MW capacity - said Mr. Živković. He noted that the great effort put into rehabilitation of the Djerdap 1 HPP, has already demonstrated excellent results. The generation exceeded the projected annual generation of 5.5 billion kWh, and a new daily generation record of 27,650 MWh was set.
- The Djerdap 1 HPP largly contributes to stability and security of the system and currently participates with 23 percent in the overall electricity generation in Serbia. The large hydropower plants on the Danube will continue to be one of the pillars of our power system in the future, as well as large and stable producers of green energy - said Ms. Dubravka Đedović Handanović, Minister of Mining and Energy.
The first man of the EPS also said that Elektroprivreda Srbije would continue rehabilitations within the hydro sector in the coming period.
- The most important projects are modernization of Vlasinske Hydropower Plants, Bistrica Hydropower Plant, Potpeć Hydropower Plant, and Djerdap 2 Hydropower Plant - said Mr. Živković.
The extensive works for rehabilitation of the Djerdap 1 HPP were executed by expert teams of Elektroprivreda Srbije, Djerdap HPP, experts from local scientific institutions and the Russian company called Siloviye Mashiny.
