The first wind turbine has been mounted within Kostolac
wind farm and, depending on weather conditions, the mounting on the other poles
follows in the forthcoming period. The wind farm will consist of 20 wind
turbines with total capacity of 66 MW and unit capacity of 3.3 MW, substation
and switchgear.
The equipment is from renowned Siemens Gamesa
company, and annual production expectations are at the level of around 187 GWh
of electricity which is sufficient to supply 30,000 households. The wind
turbines will be 179 m high, and each pole will be 117 m high, while the blade
size will be the difference of 62 m.
Kostolac
wind farm will be the first production capacity of Elektroprivrede Srbije
using wind energy and it is being built on closed landfills of Kostolac
thermal power plants and open cast mines. This is the practice applied in
foreign energy companies. This project is an important step forward in the
energy transition and sustainable development and it also has an impact on coal
dependence reduction and environmental improvement.
