The second phase of rehabilitation of the
Pumped-Storage Hydro Power Plant Bajina Bašta is proceeding according to the plan,
disassembly has been done, and equipment testing is ongoing. The Supervisory
Board members of Elektroprivreda Srbije visited the works on Unit 2.
- PSHPP Bajina Bašta is highly important for EPS, as
well as for the entire power system of Serbia. We have been convinced of the
efficiency of both works and plants, and the rehabilitation of this
gold-valuable reserve will improve its efficiency and extend its life cycle by
several decades - said Oluf Ulseth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
In addition to the modernization works, the members of
the Supervisory Board also visited the central control room, dam, and plant of
the rehabilitated HPP Bajina Bašta.
- Rehabilitation of the Pumped-Storage Hydro Power
Plant Bajina Bašta is the most important project we currently have within the
reconstruction of the hydro system in EPS. After the rehabilitation of Unit 1
had been completed, the efficiency was significantly increased and I am sure
that Unit 2 will be modernized with the same success - said Dejan Ostojić, a
member of the Supervisory Board. - This is an example that we can follow in the
upcoming rehabilitation of units in HPPs Vrla, Potpeć, Bistrica, and HPP
Djerdap 2 is also planned. I am sure that we will transfer the experience and
knowledge gained under the PSHPP Bajina Bašta project to future projects, such
as the construction of the PSHPP Bistrica.
Such projects will be even more
necessary in the future, because with the arrival of technological changes in
power systems and the increasing share of renewable sources, pumped storage
hydro power plants will become irreplaceable.
