The mining sector of "Elektroprivreda
Srbije" (EPS) has been strengthened with the return of a rotary excavator
to service, as "Glodar 8" resumed production on the ECS production
system following the completion of its annual investment overhaul. Standing 32
meters tall and weighing around 2,300 tons, this excavator is the heart of the
system at the Kolubara Field "E". "Glodar 8" has been in
operation since 1987 and is one of the pillars of coal production in the eastern
part of the Kolubara mines.
During the overhaul, extremely demanding and extensive
mechanical works were carried out to further stabilize the bucket wheel boom. A
complete regeneration of the bucket wheel gearbox was performed, along with all
other necessary mechanical and electrical works, to ensure that the system
operates reliably and safely in the coming period. This year’s overhaul, which
began in mid-March, was traditionally handled by employees of
"Kolubara-Metal," with the support of workers from the ECS system
itself.
In early April, the most powerful rotary excavator in
the eastern part of the Kolubara basin, "Glodar 2," was transported
to a new location to assist in uncovering a coal seam for "Glodar 8,"
further securing coal production for the ECS system at this site.
